Dota 2 short film contest returns with $25,000 first prize

Valve has revealed the first details of this year’s Dota 2 Short Film Contest, which will give the winner $25,000.

The annual competition has become a regular feature in the run up to The International. Fans are challenged to create a 90 second video based on Dota 2. This can be made in game, in real life, in source filmmaker or anyway really, providing it relates to Dota 2 somehow.

These videos are then submitted to the Steam Workshop, where the community can vote on the best ones. The top candidates will then be added to the in game battle pass for a final round of voting. The overall winner will then be announced at The International 7 in August.

All 10 final candidates will receive $500, but those that make it into the top three will make considerably more. Third place will grab $5,000, second will take home $10,000 and the winning film maker will receive a massive $25,000.
