A brand new prize for new IPs debuted via digital distribution will be awarded to one key European games studio this summer.
We have added a Best New Download IP to the Develop Industry Excellence Awards after unprecedented demand following our open lobbying period.
Just like our Best New IP prize – which remains as part of the award line-up – the Best New Download IP prize will single out the most innovative and original game released in the last year, but this time one that has debuted first via digital distribution.
The last 12 months have represented a watershed of new European made IPs – not just through retail, but online for formats like Mac, PC and iPhone plus via channels such as Xbox Live Arcade, Xbox Live Indie Games, PlayStation Network and Wii Ware.
The Best New IP award will recognise the games released via retail in the last 12 months by European developers.
Finalists for this and all the other awards will be announced on June 3rd.
The awards take place on July 14th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton and over 500 industry execs are expected to attend the event, which is now in its eighth year.
