Driveclub sales explode by more than 999% following Black Friday PS4 bundle offers

Offers on games and consoles during last week’s Black Friday sales have seen a number of titles shoot back up the UK retail chart.

According to the latest Ukie Games Charts, compiled by GfK Chart-Track, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare saw its sales more than double, rising 110 per cent.

This led Activision’s latest shooter to top the All Formats Chart once again, after a period in third place.

It’s largely the last-gen version of Call of Duty that sees a bump thanks to Black Friday; 67 per cent of last week’s sales were of the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of the game, compared with a 68 per cent majority in the favour of PS4 and Xbox One at launch.

The game also managed to achieve the largest number of sales for any Call of Duty title during any Black Friday week.

Advanced Warfare’s resurgence knocks Grand Theft Auto V from number one, sales of the open-world crime epic falling by 64 per cent.

FIFA 15 also benefited from the sales slew, climbing from number four to second.

Sales grew by 84 per cent, with EA’s football game outselling grand Theft Auto V by 1,500 units.

Meanwhile, Far Cry 4 fell from second place to fourth, with fellow Ubisoft release Assassin’s Creed Unity jumping one place to fifth – the latter boosted by multiple Xbox One bundles promoted during the sales. Unity predecessor Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag also gained, sales growing by more than 350 per cent.

Arguably the biggest beneficiary of Black Friday was Sony’s troubled racing title Driveclub.

Thanks to its prominent inclusion in multiple PS4 bundles, the game saw sales grow by more than 999 per cent, sending it speeding back up the chart from number 33 to eighth place.

In terms of new releases, Pokmon Omega Ruby was the highest new entry last week, debuting at number seven.2013’s Pokmon X and Y debuted in third and fourth place respectively.

The game beat out its sibling title Alpha Sapphire by one place and 2,400 sales. Combined, the new Pokmon titles would have charted in third place.

This first week success makes Alpha and Omega the biggest Pokmon launch of all time, outselling previous franchise top dogs Pokmon Black and White, from 2011.

The release of Super Smash Bros on Wii U means the game’s sales grow by more than five and a half times, leading the game to rise from number 27 to number 13.

In among the floods of Black Friday sales, LittleBigPlanet 3 manages to debut at number 18.
