Nintendo has unveiled at host of new first-party games during its Nintendo Direct presentation.
One of the first games on show was a new 3D Mario game for the Wii U called Super Mario 3D World. The series has left the Galaxy-spanning setting as seen in the two previous releases in the franchise, for a more traditional Mario World romp.
The title marks the first time multiplayer has been introduced to he 3D Mario series.
Super 3D Mario World will be released in December.
Other games revealed included Mario Kart 8, set for spring 2014 and Wii Fit U and Wii Party U due to release later this year.
A number of third-party games were also on show as Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said such titles made the Wii U experience "richer".
Third-party releases include Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, Batman Arkham Origins, Deus Ex Human Revolution: Director’s Cut, Rayman Legends, Scribblenauts Unlimited and Just Dance 2014.
Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft impressed with its new ambitious open world title ‘X’, which starred a genre mix of sci-fi and fantasy to arguably steal the show.
Other titles already previously announced by Nintendo on show included Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Super Smash Bros.
