Despite announcing Mass Effect: Andromeda two years ago, it turns out Electronic Arts is still not ready to fully reveal the next instalment in BioWare’s acclaimed sci-fi series.
Instead, the publisher showed a teasing ‘developer diary’-style trailer during its E3 2016 press conference last night, showing snippets of in-game footage interspersed with footage of the BioWare team hard at work.
We already know that, like much of EA’s portfolio now, the game is being powered by DICE’s Frostbite engine, but the video also shows new facial animation and motion capture being implemented into Andromeda.
“With Mass Effect we’re going further than ever before,” the video’s narrator teases, before embarking on a monologue that promises ‘a whole new universe to explore’ filled with worlds ‘teeming with alien life’.
