EA kicks off ad push for Rango

The game adaptation of kids’ movie Rango is getting a huge ad campaign courtesy of EA.

There will be advertisements running online, on TV and in cinemas, with dedicated game spots running at the end of ads for the film. This is on top of a range of retail POS materials and ads on Nickelodeon across Europe.

Rango is an animated movie of a chameleon – voiced by Johnny Depp – who must defend a town from bandits.

The EA game is a third person action title for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS. It was released last Friday (February 25th) ahead of the film’s launch this Friday (March 4th).

EA is very excited to partner with Paramount on Rango,” EA’s senior marketing director Matt Woodley told MCV.

The game has been made hand in hand with the film’s creators and the resulting quality is very high. It is a genuine extension to the wonderful film – an achievement often strived for but rarely reached in this genre.”
