EA reveals Alice and Spore sequels

Further to the announcements of Fight Night Champion and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning earlier today, EA has revealed two further brand new titles – Alice: Madness Returns and Darkspore.

The first, a sequel to the cult PC title, is a new game from developer American McGee. Vaguely reminiscent of Disney’s dark take on the Mickey Mouse formula in Epic Mickey, the game sees literary star Alice travelling through a corrupted and shattered” Wonderland.

Alice is a classic fiction, infinitely rich with memorable characters, places and experiences,” McGee stated. Our approach to Alice: Madness Returns takes this colourful world and reinvents it with psychotic personalities and pervasive insanity. We can’t wait to share our vision with Alice in Wonderland fans and gamers around the world.”

It’s due out on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2001.

Next up is Darkspore, a sequel to Will Wright’s critically interesting universe-sim Spore. Offering a more action-orientated take on the RTS formula, the sci-fi outing will offer the same big-scale customisation but with a far bigger focus on combat.

Darkspore is inspired in part by the award-winning creature editor tech of Spore, but also in large part from the team’s own passion for gaming and prior experience,” Maxis Studio’s general manager Lucy Bradshaw explained. The team has combined these inspirations to produce a unique take on the action RPG genre.”

Again, it’s due out in 2011.

EA has also put a firm release date on its UFC and WWE contender MMA – that will arrive on October 19th.

Other new snippets include a brand new expansion for The Sims 3 called Late Night. Not only will the expansion see sims making the most of the local nightlife, it will also give them the chance to become… wait for it… a vampire.
