Electronic Arts has announced comprehensive plans to bring its flagship series, The Sims, to handhelds and home consoles.
And it is EA’s own in-house group – The Sims Studio – that is working on The Sims 3 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS. EA has pledged a full multiplatform release during the Autumn.
Sims Studio general manager Scott Evans said the development outfit was building a “robust, deep and rewarding gameplay experience.”
He added: “I’m extremely proud of the game that the team is making and can’t wait to bring these exciting new features like ‘Karma Powers’ to life and get them into players’ hands.”
EA’s own Sims Studio, founded in 2008, is based at the publisher’s Redwood Shores headquarters.
It is also said that some editions of the Sims games will integrate with Facebook, though how is unclear.
It also remains a mystery whether the Facebook specialist Playfish – bought by EA for up to $400 million – is involved in the project.
