EA Sports signs Premier League partnership deal

EA Sports has announced a major deal with the English Premier League that will promote the brand throughout televised matches – and deliver extra content for future FIFA games.

It has become the EPL’s Official Sports Technology Partner and will be creating the EA Sports Player Performance Index, to be utilised not only in broadcast companies’ coverage and analysis, but also within future FIFA games to enhance authenticity.

The branding element of the deal will see the EA Sports brand on screen alongside live match stats during all Premier League broadcasts in the UK and internationally.

TV channels will also be using EA Sports graphics, animations and interactive technology to enhance their coverage.

Label boss Peter Moore (pictured with Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore) has always instead EA Sports is a sports brand, not a games brand, and a deal that positions it right at the heart of the Premier League/Sky power base fits right in with that philosophy.

For the Premier League, director of sales and marketing Richard Masters commented: We are extremely pleased that EA SPORTS has had the foresight to enter into this exciting new partnership that will connect with Barclays Premier League fans in new and inventive ways. Fans have a thirst for statistics and information and that is something that the Premier League, working with EA, will provide to a level not seen before in professional football.”
