VGXPO spin-off to hit US at end of November

East Coast Games Summit announced

Lunar Tide Communications, co-organisers of the American Video Game Expo (VGXPO), has announced a new industry-focused conference for the East Coast of the US.

The East Coast Game Summit, which is co-sponsored by GameJobs.com and GameRecruiter, is designed to ‘serve the professional colleagues in the game industry, as well as those interested in starting a career in games’. Amongst the keynotes and panels will be a chance to pitch game ideas to ‘industry leaders’, a hands-on workshop on Scrum, and a mini-conference for students looking to break into the industry.

Already signed up to talk at the event are EA, Acclaim, Bioware, Nexon, Red Storm, Obsidian, as well as IDGA, ESA and ECA representatives and tutors from US educational institutions such as Full Sail, DeVry, SMU Guild Hall and The Art Institutes.

To celebrate the launch of the new event, attendance is free for all of those registered to attend the VGXPO. Those industry trade members who register their interest in VGXPO and the East Coast Game Summit before October 10th will also receive a free ‘Industry Insider’ pass to the VGXPO.

"We are thrilled to host the East Coast Games Summit," said Jennifer Johnson-Halpin, VGXPO show director.

"The summit is going to be a great experience for VGXPO attendees and our colleagues in the industry. We look forward to providing east coast videogame insiders with a new venue to exchange ideas and network with peers."

Fiona Cherbak, vice president of marketing at GameRecruiter, added: "The East Coast Games Summit helps the videogame industry grow not only on a management-process level, but on an education-outreach level as well. For people not already in the games industry, there is an opportunity to gain a lot of knowledge about the the games making process and also get your foot in the door for a possible career in videogames."

The East Coast Games Summit takes place alongside the VGXPO between November 21st and 23rd in Philadelphia, PA. For more information, check out the VGXPO website.
