Echo Fox appoints NBA veteran Jared Jeffries as president

Jared Jeffries, a former NBA player, has been appointed as the president of esports organisation Echo Fox, headed up by three-time NBA champion Rick Fox

Jeffries will be responsible for all of Echo Fox’s operations, and the appointment was confirmed by a private equity firm Vision Venture Partners, headed up by Amit Raizada, Stratton Sclavos and Echo Fox owner Rick Fox.

“Jared Jeffries is a proven winner and fierce competitor on and off the court,” said Fox. “We cannot be more excited to have someone with his pedigree as a professional player and front office executive help lead Echo Fox as it continues its ascension to the number one esports organization in the world.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Echo Fox family as it’s clear they’re leading the way in the next great spectator sport,” added Jeffries

Echo Fox started when Fox purchased a League of Legends LCS slot for $1m, but now also sees the team competing in CS:GO, in addition to several contenders in the fighting game community.

Echo Fox had a very successful weekend at EVO, with wins in Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V. In Tekken 7, the grand final was a face off between Echo Fox teammates Choi ‘Saint’ Jin Woo and Kim ‘JDCR’ Hyun Jin, with Hyun Jin emerging victorious.

Jefferies was most recently working as director of play personnel for the Denver Nuggets NBA team, and in his new role with Echo Fox will oversee hiring and managing players and coaching staff, in addition to making sure Echo Fox’s offerings in various sports are operating as well as they can. He’ll also be looking to build the brand, involving streaming, social media and advertising deals.

His role indicates that Echo Fox could be coming to adolescence, restructuring themselves for a, hopefully, successful future.
