Elite: Dangerous creator Frontier announces redundancies

Frontier Developments – the team behind Elite: Dangerous – has announced a round of redundancies at the developer.

The firm says it is working on two main projects: Elite: Dangerous and a new PC game called Coaster Park Tycoon, which will launch in 2016. As a result, 15 ‘content creation’ roles are being made redundant at Cambridge, while the firm is looking to move development roles from its Halifax, Noca Scotia facility to Cambridge.

The company says it is re-focusing its entire development activities in Cambridge, but it’s unclear if that means it is closing its Halifax division entirely,

Frontier currently has 281 members of staff in Cambridge and says it is continuing to recruit in areas of ‘programming, server and web front end development.’
