Enslaved sequel plans officially shelved

UK developer Ninja theory has categorically stated that all plans for potential sequel to Enslaved are well and truly over.

Instead, the studio is now focusing all its efforts Capcom’s Devil May Cry title DMC.

"Enslaved should have done better," co-founder Tameen Antoniades told Edge (via CVG). "Right now we should have been doing a sequel and perfecting that sequel and doing what franchises do, which is get better over time.
"[But] because that didn’t happen we’ve not expanded to two teams like we intended to. So we’ve remained a smaller shop. But now we get another chance with DMC."

The admission of defeat comes after a long period where both Ninja Theory and Enslaved publisher Namco Bandai continued to hint that the game could live on despite its tepid commercial reception.

Back in October 2010 the developer stated that it would very much like to make a sequel, and that the studio was geared up for such a project.

Then in January this year Namco Bandai UK stated that despite lower-than-expected sales, the critical praise the game garnered meant the door for a potential follow-up was still open.
