Epic Games Store announces first redeemable key deal with Humble Bundle

Epic has ruffled a few feathers recently with its Epic Games Store, be it those who wanted Metro Exodus in their Steam library, or others concerned about the launcher’s use of Steam friend list information. But today’s Humble Bundle announcement at GDC should help it win a few friends back.

Sweeney stated on Twitter last week that “we wholeheartedly support key sales for non-exclusive games.” And the first recipient of that support will be Humble Bundle, allowing the charity-driven retailer to include Epic Games Store titles in its bundles. The key point being (sorry) that Epic “will receive no revenue share from games purchased through the Humble Store,” the company shared through a statement.

Furthermore, Epic will soon enable consumers to link their Epic and Humble accounts, for easier purchasing. And the Humble deal looks to be just the beginning of Epic’s ambitions to spread its store ecosystem beyond its own store and launcher. Which is great news for the likes of Green Man Gaming and other third-party key sellers.

“The Epic team is excited to give players more choices for buying games, and bring developers new avenues for reaching players. Over time we hope to partner with other highly reputable digital stores to expand purchasing options.”

In other announcements on the store at the GDC 2019 keynote, Epic announced a slew of new exclusive titles for the store coming this year, and also stated that Metro Exodus sold two and-a-half times what it predecessor sold on Steam.
