ESL partners with Disney for original broadcast content

ESL announced Monday that they would be partnering with Disney to air two original ESL television series’ on Disney’s D|XP.

D|XP is a summer programming segment on channel Disney XD, which will focus entirely on the world of gaming. This’ll be a first for ESL who haven’t broadcast on American television so far, but also for Disney, who have been making an increasing number of commitments in the esports space, earlier this week announcing that aXiomatic, a company with a majority stake in Team Liquid, would be taking part in this years Disney Accelerator project.

One of the shows will focus on speedrunning, entitled ESL Speedrunners. In it, ESL and Disney will be presenting some of the best speedrunners in the world, and should hopefully recapture some of the magic of Awesome Games Done Quick for an audience that may not be inherently familiar with the concept.  Expect to see speedruns on games that aren’t excessively violent, and fit with the child-friendly vibe that they have going on.

ESL will also be producing ESL Brawlers, with some of the biggest names in Capcom’s Street Fighter V facing off for a chance to prove themselves as the best at punching (and kicking) folk all over the place.

The series will run for six episodes, with a special seventh episode to focus on Super Evil Megacorp’s mobile MOBA Vainglory, with influencers and pro players coming together to throw down in a showmatch.

ESL Brawlers is right around the corner, and will premier on July 20, while ESL Speedrunners will arrive some time next month.
