£19,000 on the line at UK’s Insomnia57 March tournament

This March, Birmingham’s NEC will play host to tournaments for six games totalling £19,000 in prize money for UK gamers.

The Insomnia57 event over the March 25-28 weekend will also be one of the first Street Fighter V tournaments on British soil, with £1,000 on the line.

As the festival is also a LAN event, there will be opportunities for anyone turning up on the day to compete and be in with a chance of a prize, rather than strict qualifiers.

“The addition of Street Fighter V to Insomnia57’s eSports roster opens up opportunities to the Fighting Game Community as well as anyone attending on the Sunday,” said Andy Smith, Director of the festival. “By giving visitors the chance to show how talented they are in the arena, we look to show that eSports can be enjoyed by anybody.”

Other games featured at the festival will be Dota 2, League of Legends and CS:GO–with £5,000 prize pools for each of the team-based tournaments–and Rocket League, with a £3,000 prize pool.

The festival is organised by Multiplay–a wholly owned subsidiary of Game Digital–and also offers attendees a chance to see YouTube personalities.
