Call of Duty World League Championship heads to Orlando this August

Activision has revealed the date and venue for the 2017 Call of Duty World League Championship, the biggest CoD event of the pro-league calender.

It’ll be held at the Amway Center in Orlando Florida, and will take place from August 9 to 13. The event will see the top 32 teams in Call of Duty face off to try and take home a chunk of the tournament’s $1.5m prize pool.

Teams have already started to qualify for the event, primarily through the CWL Global Pro League. The GPL hosts four groups of four, with the top three of each of those groups qualifying for the World League Championship.

It’s the first time the Call of Duty Championship has made its way to the East Coast. They probably need the space though, the Amyway Center is home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic team and can seat 20,000 fans. Last year the Championship took place at The Forum in California — the home of the L.A Lakers — and it was a full house.

Spectator tickets will go on sale soon.
