CD Projekt Red to host $25,000 Gwent tournament at Gamescom

CD Projekt RED are bringing card game Gwent to Gamescom for one of its first major tournaments.

The game launched in open beta back in May, but is slowly becoming more and more polished as CD Projekt RED flesh out the game beyond its roots as a diversion in its Witcher franchise, and into its own competitive entity.

$25,000 will be up for grabs at the event, which should appeal to the several Hearthstone pros who have switched to the event since the game’s open beta launch.

Signups for the tournament are now open, and the top seven players in the game will be selected to compete in the tournament, with rankings checked on August 1 to determine the first seven competitors.

The final 8th spot will be given to the winner of the Wild Card Qualifiers, which will be held at Gamescom proper on August 24th. You can see details on the tournament page.

This tournament will occur at Gwent’s official booth.
