COGnitive Gaming has announced that it will be closing its doors on December 31st.
The organisation has been around for a few years, initially getting involved with the Smite scene back in 2013. They stuck with Smite, even fielding two teams at the 2015 World Championships, where they took both first and third place. At the time this even had the third highest prize pool in eSports history.
After that things went downhill. The Smite teams were sold off, and COG focused on Heroes of the Storm, where they had limited success, and Smash Bros. At one point they had Jacob "Mew2King" Zimmerman, one of the five gods of Smash, on their roster be he soon went off to join Echo Fox.
Justin "Wizzrobe" Hallet is the only player currently signed to COG, and he announced earlier this week that he would not be resigning with the org.
“Cognitive Gaming will cease operations on December 31, 2016,” read a Tweet from the organisation. “Thank you to all the fans and former players! We appreciated all of it!”
