Dreamhack signs data and integrity deal with Genius Esports

DreamHack has signed a data and integrity partnership deal with Genius Sports.

Genius Sports will now distribute data and video streaming from DreamHack’s esports events around the world to a global market of regulated betting outfits, but this data access will also see Genius Sports stepping in to ensure that Dreamhack’s are protected from the threat of match-fixing and other foul play.

Genius Sports will take the role of DreamHack’s Official Data and Integrity Partner, and Genius Sports will use their integrity monitoring system to keep an eye out for data or betting patterns that don’t fit with the norm, notifying DreamHack of potential risks moving forwards.

Marcus Lindmark, CEO of DreamHack, said: “We are very pleased to team up with Genius Sports and have them assisting us with our ongoing integrity work across all our pro tournaments. But we’re equally excited to have them as official data partner and bring live data to their network of partners around the world.”

Moritz Maurer, Genius Sports head of esports, added: “This partnership is the latest example of an esports rights holder taking control of the data that powers betting markets on their matches in order to protect its integrity. It’s also an exciting new commercial opportunity for DreamHack and one that we are in a unique position to facilitate through our unrivalled and highly regulated distribution arm.”

Genius Sports have a similar partnership with tournament organisers FACEIT, for their Counter-Strike ECS which was signed back in April. As integrity becomes a bigger concern for esports, you can expect to see more and more integrity partners and deals popping up.
