Dutch Eredivisie league creates FIFA 17 Ultimate Team competition

The top Dutch football league, Eredivisie, has announced plans to launch a FIFA 17 Ultimate Team league known as the E-Divisie.

The league will kick off on February 6th, with all 18 Eredivisie clubs fielding a player in the competition. Seventeen rounds of games later and the winner will be decided, earning the title of E-Divisie champion and a spot in the EA SPORTS FIFA 17 Ultimate Team™ Championship Series.

The league will be broadcast on Twitch, YouTube and FOX Sports Netherlands, with exact details to be revealed on February 1st, along with the reveal of which players have signed for clubs.

"In the Eredivisie we have been working to set up an official eSports competition in the Netherlands for some time", said Alex Tielbeke, director of Eredivisie CV. "We are thrilled that we can now organise it together with EA SPORTS and Endemol. We see the E-Divisie as an extension to the existing range of football we offer, in which we can focus even more on young people. For the clubs it is a fantastic platform for increasing the fans’ involvement and jointly generating new content. Moreover, in time the E-Divisie will create an even greater experience of Eredivisie football in a stadium."
