The third season of the ESL Pro League saw a peak year-on-year growth of over 44% for online content consumed, making it the most successful cycle to date for the competition.
Viewership for the season broke records once again with more than 61 million online sessions throughout the nine week season, and over 1.2 million unique viewers tuning in for the final day. This meant that on average each game had 180,000 viewers.
During the LAN finals in London content shared through Facebook amassed a total of 5.3 million views, with a total of 39 million impressions across all ESL owned social media accounts. There was also over 5.7 million engagements with these social media posts.
“The ESL CS:GO Pro League’s continued and consistent growth and evolution is something that we are immensely proud of,” said Ulrich Schulze, VP Pro Gaming at ESL. “It is a testament to the product that in a community as rich and diverse in competition as the Counter-Strike one, the ESL Pro League continues to perform at the pinnacle. We’re already deep into Season 4 planning and are hoping the local crowd in our soon-to-be-announced finals location will be just as energetic and enthusiastic as the one we saw in London.”
It was Brazilian side Luminosity that ended up winning the ESL Pro League Season 3, taking home $200,000 at the London finals.
