The Hollywood Hammers esports organisation has revealed that it’s releasing its Overwatch team, joining the long list of esports organisations stepping away from Blizzard’s first person shooter.
However, this seems to be performance based issues instead of the usual concerns cited with Overwatch’s competitive scene. In this case, the Hollywood Hammers roster, formerly known as The Chavs, failed to make the grade in qualifiers for Season Zero of the Overwatch Contenders.
"We also want to emphasize that the Hammers organization intends to keep an interest within competitive Overwatch and we will be closely monitoring OWL’s next developments," said a press release detailing the team’s release.
The team are based in Los Angeles, with the Hollywood Hammers announcing in May that they would be fielding their teams from the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
