MonteCristo and DoA leave Korea to cast the Overwatch League

Casters Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles and Erik "DoA" Lonnquist have announced that they are leaving Korea and will return to the US to work on the upcoming Overwatch League.

The pair are best known as the English language voices of Korean League of Legends. For years the pair were the main casters for the LCK, the best LoL league in the world. Last year disagreements with Riot over pay saw the two depart League in favour of casting OGN’s new Apex Overwatch League, and Blizzard’s first Overwatch World Cup.

Now with the Overwatch League on the horizon the pair have accepted new positions with Blizzard. They will be casters for the Overwatch League, and will also work with Blizzard on other areas of the broadcast.

"Obviously we will serve as broadcasters for the Overwatch League once it begins in Q3 of 2017, but we’re also excited to serve as consultants to Blizzard as the broadcast and shoulder content takes shape," said Mykles when speaking to ESPN. "One of the most compelling aspects of moving back to the States is the opportunity to help build a show from the ground up that resonates with fans as an authentic eSports product rather than overreaching into outdated models from traditional sports."
