Overwatch pro Daniel ‘Dafran’ Francesca gets a time-out from Blizzard after trolling stream

Overwatch pro Daniel ‘Dafran’ Francesca has had a rough night. Last night on stream he admitted to deliberately throwing ranked games, while getting himself killed repeatedly, streaming animated porn over his gameplay and other general unsportsmanlike content.

Francesca is known for two things: his tracking and aim talents, and his incredibly toxicity. Last night that seemed to peak, as he was streaming an anime dating simulator which eventually veered heavily into pornographic content, all while streaming Overwatch. In Overwatch, he trolled his team by suiciding, hanging out in the starting area and just generally being kind of a prick.

After the stream, the Overwatch forums filled with posts complaining about Francesca’s bad behaviour, and quickly Blizzard and Francesca’s team Selfless were made aware of the situation. Seflless announced they were suspending the player during the evening, with Blizzard coming forwards on the Overwatch Contenders site to say that they were banning Francesca for breaking rule 7 of the Overwatch Contenders league: “All competitors and spectators are required to act in a respectful sportsmanlike manner at all times.”

Blizzard’s full message is below, but you can also see it here:

“We have found that Dafran, from Overwatch Contenders team Selfless, has violated Rule 7.0 (Conduct) of the Overwatch Contenders Ruleset, which states the following:

All competitors and spectators are required to act in a respectful sportsmanlike manner at all times.

Due to this violation, as of June 8, Blizzard will suspend Dafran’s access to his current Overwatch accounts for one week, and from Competitive Play for the remainder of Season 5. Further, Dafran is disqualified from Overwatch Contenders Season Zero, will not be eligible for Overwatch Contenders Season One, and is disqualified from all future Blizzard-sanctioned tournament play for the duration of this competitive season. Dafran’s Overwatch Contenders team is still eligible to compete with a substitute.”

Selfless still plan to compete in the Overwatch Contenders League, albeit with a substitute. Francesca doesn’t seem too remorseful though, in a Twitlonger post he said “I honestly do not give a shit what happens to me and my fucking career, you can all go fuck yourselves”, although does mention that he is “starting to realise my actions may be affecting my org, teammates and their careers”
