PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has third monthly update, rebalances loot, adds weather and guns

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has released its third monthly patch, full of new content and balancing changes.

In the patch notes, Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene himself talked about the continued improvements to server performance which are taking place during the weekly optimisation patches as a preface to the patch notes themselves, adding that in addition to optimisation a big focus for the time right now is on kicking out cheating players.

"We have also been working hard to tackle down cheating players. This is an ongoing battle, but one we are committed to fighting! We have banned 25,000+ users in the last 3 months, and work daily with BattlEye to add new protections and detections for cheats appearing on the market." said Greene in the patch notes, found on Steam.

Other changes include a total loot table rebalance which sees popular weapons the Scar-L and the UMP being tweaked to appear less often in the game, and the VSS no longer appearing in care packages, which could see significant changes in the developing meta around the game. There are more details regarding the loot changes and other adjustments, but these are the headline changes.

Similarly, after complaints from a lot of players that the shed-sized cabins littered around the map were too strong, these have been made destructible.

Finally, the team have added two weapons: the Groza, which is a 7.62 chambered assault rifle dropping mainly in care packages, and the P18C, which is a Glock 18C in all but name, a handgun capable of full auto fire.

Full patch notes are on Steam, if you’re a fan of the game or minutiae in general.
