PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds reaches 4th all-time highest concurrent player count on Steam

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has claimed another impressive sounding statistic, as it just achieved a record for the fourth-highest peak player count in Steam’s history.

There were 382,561 players charging around the fiction Eastern European wilderness shooting at each other, which put the game 22,000 players above the peak set by Grand Theft Auto V.

This is no small feat, with Grand Theft Auto V being one of the best-selling games of all time, and now PUBG is nestled behind Valve’s twin peaks of Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in addition to Fallout 4’s concurrent player peak, set during the launch month for Bethesda’s open world RPG.

PUBG joined Steam’s Early Access program in March this year, and although its continued success makes me want to sign off this news story with a cliche along the lines of “the only way is up.”, actually it is unclear how much more up there is to go.
