SonixFox wins first ever Injustice 2 tournament at Combo Breaker

Dominique “SonicFox” Mclean, ranked as the world’s best player in Mortal Kombat X, has claimed the title in the first major tournament for Injustice 2, which also served as the first tournament in Injustice 2’s $600,000 pro tour.

SonicFox triumphed over Sayed “Tekken Master” Ahmed in the tournament’s grand final. It wasn’t an unexpected result, as SonicFox was the strong favourite to win as he went into the tournament, with several big wins in Mortal Kombat X in recent years.

However, this is SonicFox’s first win at Combo Breaker, with him finished second in 2015, and fourth in 2016. This year, Fox missed the prize again, finishing third. The winner of the Mortal Kombat X tournament? Sayed “Tekken Master” Ahmed.

Seems that Netherrealms’ different fighting games have a few similarities.

The Injustice 2 pro tour is a series of 18 events, with 17 left to go. The top 16 players at the end of the season will go ahead to the end-of-season championship in Los Angeles in September. There’s no telling whether Mclean or Ahmed will appear, but based on this first showing and their pedigree in the Mortal Kombat scene, few would bet against it.
