Sony partners with Capcom Pro Tour for 2015 season

Capcom has detailed its 2015 Pro Tour fighting game circuit schedule, with the eSports organization offering up a prize pool of $500,000 this season.

A post on the Capcom Unity blog details how the purse will be spread across 16 Ultra Street Fighter IV Premiere events at locations in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Tournaments will also double in size, going from 16 to 32 openings for competitors.

Capcom has also officially confirmed Sony as a new partner – joining video broadcasting service Twitch, which partnered with Capcom during the tour’s inaugural run in 2014.

“Last year was a great success, with record breaking numbers all over the globe that helped pushed the fighting game community to new heights,” the blog post reads.

“Capcom and Twitch both learned a ton of things throughout the season, and with Sony now on board to lend their support, we are all committed to making this season bigger, better, and more epic than before.”

The first Pro Tour event takes place March 20-22 in Atlanta, with all events to be broadcast on the Capcom Fighters Twitch channel.
