Zlatan Ibrahimovic invests in Challengermode

One day he’s off winning the league cup with Manchester United and the next he’s off investing in obscure eSports companies. Oh to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Just before netting two goals, including an 87th minute winner, in the league cup final Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced that he has invested in Challengermode, a Swedish eSports company that lets players compete against each other for real money.

Zlatan was part of a $1.3 million investment round with other Swedish tech investors. The money raised will help Challengermode expand its range of competitions to play in and work with other partners across the world.

“We are now seeing that the next wave of esports is going mainstream around the world." said Robel Efrem, CEO of Challengermode when speaking to Breakit (thanks Dot eSports). "We’re very happy about the investors who have chose to join us in creating tools that enable players and brands thrive in this fast-growing field.”
