Evolve goes gold, Turtle Rock and 2K donate $22,000 to charity

Turtle Rock’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Evolve has gone gold, and to celebrate both the studio and the game’s publisher 2K Games are making substantial donations to charity.

A post on the Evolve’s official website announces that the game is ready for release, as well as details a charitable agreement made by multiple members of the development team.

Participating women grew out their hair, while men stopped shaving for the run. Turtle Rock in turn donated $50 for each inch of hair grown up until certification was reached. The devs involved ended up tallying 227.5 inches of hair grown, meaning the studio ended up donating a total of $11,375 to Child’s Play.

Publisher 2K Games went ahead and upped the ante by matching Turtle Rock’s donation amount, bringing the grand total to more than $22,000 donated to the video game charity between the two companies.

Evolve officially launches February 10th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A limited open beta is also set to take place later this month.
