Ex-Infinity Ward vets take to Kickstarter with To the Death

A pair of indie studios led by a trio of industry veterans have launched a Kickstarter campaign for 2D action side-scroller, To the Death.

Representing Scary Monstro, Todd Alderman and Francesco Gigliotti previously served as lead designer and engineer (respectively) at Infinity Ward – specifically on the Call of Duty franchise. The two later worked on Titanfall at Respawn Entertainment.

Section Studios – the other indie studio involved – includes creative director Cecil Kim, who worked at SCE Santa Monica as the visual development lead on God of War 3.

We wanted to develop a video game that’s easy to pick up but hard to put down,” Alderman said.

With art direction from Section Studios’ Cecil Kim who’s been instrumental with the God of War franchise, the concept art and visual effects are as captivating as the game is fun.”

To The Death is planned for Steam on PC, Mac and Linux. The Kickstarter goal is set at $400,000, with the developers emphasizing that the game is still in the prototype phase.
