A former Telltale Games employee has launched a class action lawsuit against the company, claiming it violated California’s WARN Act in not giving those fired at least 60 days notice before termination.
The case was brought by Vernie Roberts, Jr. and is on behalf of all those impacted by Telltale’s redundancies, announced last week. Telltale is alleged to have failed to adhere to a number of its financial commitments to employees, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, holiday pay and more for the 60 days following terminations.
The closure came shortly after AMC and Smilegate pulled out deals with Telltale, according to Variety, with both companies deciding against an investment in the adventure game creator this past Thursday. Employees were let go the day after.
Meanwhile, the Walking Dead’s final season has been pulled from digital storefronts, with the second episode meant to release this week not available and the season pass no longer up to purchase. GOG’s store page for the game says:
“Telltale has requested a temporary pause of sales of The Walking Dead – Final Season. For all up to date Telltale news, please refer to their official Twitter page.”
What remains of the company is said to be in talks to finish off the final season, but for the time being it seems the project has been put on ice.
