Facebook have today announced the start of their Instant Games feature, allowing people to play games near immediately using Facebook’s Messenger or News Feed.
All games available through Facebook’s new Instant Games feature are free to play, run in a web view and will work across Messenger and the Facebook News Feed on mobile and desktop. The games are free to play, with 17 games currently available from 14 different companies.
The big draw of the feature here is that you can get into a game with friends via a group message, post on your feed or even in a group conversation in just a few seconds, due to HTML 5.
One of the 14 companies supporting the platform’s current beta is Spil Games, an Amsterdam based studio bringing their game Endless Lake to the platform for launch.
"The ability to go straight from discussing a game to playing it, makes gaming truly intrinsic to the social experience," said Tung Nguyen-Khac, Spil Games’ CEO. "We already know from what we’ve seen in Asia how powerful it can be integrating games into the instant messaging environment."

To play Instant Games you can access the Facebook or Messenger.com on any browser or install the Messenger mobile app and either IOS 8, Android 5 or more recent releases. It’ll be rolling out to 30 companies worldwide.
