smash Fallout 3 shipped a quite incredible 4.7 million copies across the world in its first week of sale on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Its success has already generated retail sales of over $300 million.

The game, which is built using an enhanced version of the engine that powered successful RPG outing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, sees players facing up to a post-apocalyptic future. In typical Bethesda fashion, gamers are free to pursue the game as they see fit, with their in-game choices having a significant impact on how the narrative pans out.
