Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon now available in stores

Ubisoft is giving the High Street a chance to cash in on its latest digital smash, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

The download-only expansion to blockbuster title Far Cry 3 topped the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network charts this week. It reached No.2 on Steam.

And now physical retailers can benefit on the success of the game with branded cards that contain a download code for Blood Dragon on Xbox 360.

The cards are already available in GAME and other selected stores. The cards retail for 9.99. PS3 versions of the cards will be available later this month.

Digital download codes are a hugely important product for us," a GAME spokesperson told MCV.

"Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has been performing very well so far, with fans of the Far Cry series snapping up the ’80s action VHS parody.

"It’s a very original game and great fun to play, and at less than a tenner it’s a popular stand-alone release even amongst those who haven’t played the original game.”

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a spin-off styled on ‘80s visions of the future. Set in 2007 when the world has been devastated by nuclear war, players wield the sci-fi weapons of part-cyborg soldier Rex ‘Power’ Colt.

The original Far Cry 3 sold more than 4.5m copies worldwide last year, despite launching as late as November 30th.
