There’s being No.1, and then there’s owning No.1.
It’s no surprise that EA’s FIFA 15 is the new UK No.1, but the extent of its weekly dominance is incredible – UKIE Gfk Chart-Track says that the game accounted for 87 per cent of the UK’s total weekly market revenue and 80 per cent of all units.
And thanks to launching on eight formats simultaneously, units are up 15 per cent year-on-year and 23 per cent in revenue compared to FIFA 14. When all versions are evened out, however, both games come in around the same in units, although the new title has around a six per cent revenue advantage.
The next-gen PS4 and Xbox One SKUs accounted for 54 per cent of the market with PS3 and Xbox 360 claiming 45 per cent.
Nintendo’s 3DS title Fantasy Life also entered the Top 10 in eighth.
Here’s the UK Top 10 in full for the week ending September 27th:
1. FIFA 15 (EA)
2. Destiny (Activision)
3. Disney Infinity 2.0 (Disney)
