Final Dota 2 Major to be held in Manila

The last of three new Valve-hosted Dota 2 Major events is to be held this June in Manila, in the Philippines.

With a few weeks still until the second Major begins in Shanghai, Valve made the announcement that the final event will be held in the South-East Asian region.

The three events were introduced this year to bring a structure and consistency of higher tier rosters throughout the year between The International finals.

Like Frankfurt and Shanghai before it, the Manila Major will have the best teams in the world invited or qualified to attend for a shot at the $3m prize pool.

This final Major will take place just a month after another premier tournament in the Filipino capital, as ESL One Manila is set to take place in late April with a prize pool of $250,000.

The attention should be a welcome boost to the area’s eSports interests, as the Philippines and other island nations such as Taiwan, continue to produce world-class talent in Dota 2 and League of Legends.
