Square Enix’s chief technology officer Yoshihisa Hashimoto has left the publisher for ‘personal reasons’.
Game Watch reports via Siliconera that Hashimoto was also the tech director of once troubled MMO Final Fantasy XIV and manager of Square Enix’s Advanced Technology Division.
He’d been at the company since 2009 having joined from Sega.
Hashimoto will retain a role as technical advisor on FFXIV until a full time replacement can be drafted in. In the mean time, lead programmer Hideyuki Kasuga will oversee the game’s ongoing development.
In March 2013 president and CEO Yoichi Wada stepped down after 13 years at the company. The following May Wada’s replacement, Mike Fischer, also left.
