Finnish developer Boomlagoon has secured $3.6 million from a Series A investment round.
The studio, set up by former Rovio employees in 2012, will be used to expand the developer’s team of eight and fund its next title, which will be announced this month.
Boomlagoon’s investment round was led by Northzone with additional funding coming from Inventure and 360 Capital Partners.
“We have been very impressed by the Boomlagoon team, and believe they have a unique understanding of how to drive casual mobile games to broad markets,” said Northzone general partner Torleif Ahlsand.
"All games from Boomlagoon are based on memorable characters and a clear strategy on monetisation. I really look forward to joining the board to work with them to make their ambitious goals a reality.”
Boomlagoon’s first game, physics-based racing title Noble Nutlings, was released in January 2013. Last year the studio was named in the Develop 100 European start-ups list, which you can view on your browser or on iPad.
