Firemint Studios pushes into core gaming

Flight Control has been the #1 paid iPhone app in at least 20 countries and is one of the largest success stories on the platform due to its casual appeal.

The game sold 4.8 million units across iPhone, iPad and Mac OSX. As a result, Firemint has grown to be one of Australia’s largest development studios, employing 60 people out of their Melbourne office.

Up next for Firemint is Real Racing 2 HD, a core game pushing boundaries on the hardware. Firemint is preparing for the dual-screen 1080p TV out functionality of the game to be completely wireless using AirPlay with the release of iOS5.

Rob Murray, director of Flight Control developer Firemint Studios, said: We had a feeling Flight Control would do well, but we had no idea just how massive it would end up being. The intuitive controls, simplicity and addictive gameplay proved a winning combination.”

Murray continues: A premium title that appeals to the more dedicated gamer can do well on the platform. Really, we just like making great games.”
