Turn 10 uses middleware for sound behind best reviewed game on Microsoft's next-gen console

FMOD Studio revs up audio for Xbox One launch title Forza Mortorsport 5

Firelight Technologies’ audio tech FMOD Studio has been used in Xbox One title Forza Motorsport 5.

Developed by Turn 10, Forza 5 is one of the first range of titles to be released on Microsoft’s new platform.

The game has garnered an average review score of 82 on Metacritic, making it the most well reviewed game to be released on the system so far.

"We’re very proud to have worked with Turn 10 to enable their vision for this flagship title," said FMOD Studio lead developer Raymond Biggs.

"It’s an excellent showcase for the power and flexibility of FMOD Studio and sets a new benchmark for games to come."

Audio middleware FMOD Studio is designed to provide an interface with similarities to using professional digital audio workstations rather than existing audio tools, and provides extensive mixing capabilities and built-in DSP effects.
