Fnatic part ways with League of Legends coach Deilor

Fnatic and Luis Deilor” Sevilla, the head coach of the organisation’s League of Legends team, have mutually parted ways.

Deilor had been with the team for almost two years, guiding them to victory in multiple splits and of course during their 18-0 undefeated split. However a poor couple of splits has seen Fnatic’s stock fall in the League of Legends world, and chances are they won’t be making it to worlds this year.

Because of recent results and in order to give the team the best chance moving forward, Luis and the Fnatic management team mutually agreed that him stepping down is the correct course of action,” read a statement on the Fnatic website. While the timing of this decision might seem odd at first, we agreed that it was important to give the team a fresh start under a new coach as soon as possible.”

The timing is indeed odd, as the Fnatic League of Legends team will face off against H2K in the first stage of the playoffs in just a few days. A good run through the playoffs could see them turn around the poor split and make it to worlds after all. Now the team will be playing under Nico NicoThePico” Korsgrd, who has been working with the team for the last few weeks. Nico was previously the head coach of rival team Origen.

The showing we have had the last few weeks has not been representative of who we are as a team,” said Nico. Moving forward, we will need to work on everything from mindset to macro-understanding, to give ourselves a fighting chance. Although the situation might look bleak, I have no doubt that we will get back on track, and we have an intriguing journey ahead!”
