Maria Sayans to serve in newly-created role of chief customer officer

Former EA marketing exec joins CCP Games

Maria Sayans has been appointed by EVE Online developer CCP Games as its chief customer officer.

Sayans joins CCP from EA, where she helped head up the publisher’s marketing efforts for 14 years.

Most recently, she served as senior director of marketing for Battlefield studio EA DICE, leading the global marketing for its flagship shooter series and the Mirror’s Edge franchise.

Chief customer officer is a newly-created position at CCP, with the company saying that Sayans’ responsible will focus on its relationships with customers, as well as overseeing its marketing, sales, web development and customer services teams in four offices – Reykjavik, Shanghai, Atlanta and Newcastle.

Sayans will also help to open CCP’s new London location.

“As we embark on this new chapter in CCP’s story, it’s really important to us to further build on the fantastic relationship we’ve built with our customers,” said CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, to whom Sayans will report directly.

“Maria will help us unify our communications across teams and studios so we can better enable our players to realise their wildest dreams.”

Sayans herself added: “I can’t think of a better place to be a part of the VR revolution than CCP.

“The company’s early leadership in VR and pioneering status in online gaming is quickly translating into real results and we aim to build on and extend that in the coming years.”
