Nokia says the service will enable its community to meet all development, porting, testing, and monitoring needs for content like mobile games without having to acquire a physical device.
In short, the Forum Nokia Virtual Developer Lab (VDL) is an online resource encompassing Series 40 and Series 60 handsets and is available globally to all members of the Forum Nokia developer community.
VDL is powered by a platform from DeviceAnywhere that provides remote access to real mobile handsets connected to live networks.
Developers can carry out tasks like pressing buttons, tapping touch screens, connecting/disconnecting the battery, viewing the LCD, listening to ringers and speakers, and opening/closing a handset.
To begin with VDL will support 40 Nokia devices currently available in the US and Europe. To access the VDL, community members can register by selecting the Forum Nokia VDL option through DeviceAnywhere’s website.
