Free-to-play Titanfall aiming for Asian markets

Nexon is partnering with EA to release a free-to-play version of Respawn’s Titanfall to Asia.

Games Industry reports that Nexon, with whom EA already partners for FIFA Online, is in charge of developing the port, with Respawn collaborating on the efforts.

"With its pilot vs titan gameplay, among other innovations, Titanfall is a uniquely intense game experience,” Nexon president and CEO Owen Mahoney said. We look forward to working with the talented teams at Respawn and EA and leveraging Nexon’s free-to-play expertise to deliver a new and engaging online game based on Titanfall to the Asian market.”

The game is intended for release in Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

It was confirmed in December that Titanfall had neared 8m unique users. Developer Respawn confirmed in March that Titanfall 2 is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will be the first time the series has been released on PlayStation.
