Full blown PS4 reveal before E3: reports

Sony plans to reveal more about the PlayStation 4 before E3, new reports have suggested.

PCMag has heard from what it calls a source familiar with the Sony’s marketing strategy that the console maker is planning to reveal more details about the PS4 in either late April or early May.

Microsoft, which is yet to utter a word about its follow-up to the Xbox 360, was also rumoured to reveal its next-gen plans this month.

PCMag’s source says that Sony’s strategy is to parcel out information about the PS4 in parts to maintain buzz.

Sony first announced the PS4 in February, revealing the Dualshock 4 controller, a stereo camera for the console, and a few games. It didn’t, however, reveal the console itself or its price.

The console maker could well use its pre-E3 event to show the PS4 console for the first time and reveal more hardware details, such as hard drive capacity. That would leave its E3 press conference to focus purely on games, and the console’s release date and price.
