3D benchmark firm founds new team to make new IP which drives forward computer graphics

Futuremark opens games studio

Finland-based creator of the 3DMark graphics benchmarking software Futuremark has announced the formation of a new games studio dedicated to producing full titles.

Futuremark Games Studio has been charged with developing new IP-based titles that not only push the boundaries of games graphics but overall "deliver stellar performance even on modest platforms right up to the most enthusiastic levels of performance hardware".

"Futuremark Games Studio is committed to developing original IP games with the highest quality game play combined with our established track record of creating blow-your-socks-off visuals," said Tero Sarkkinen, CEO of Futuremark Corporation.

"For years, our fans have been asking us when will we start making games. Very soon they are going to get it – and then some."

The studio’s first game is already in development – and the studio will be on hand at GDC next month as part of the Nordic Game Pavillion.

It’s not the first to move from tools to full game development – Oxford, UK-based NaturalMotion moved into making full titles last year.
