GAME rolls out Marketplace and online Gift Card redemptions

Having been offline for much of the weekend, GAME’s website has returned with some additional functionality.

Chief amongst them is GAME Marketplace. Revealed last year, the program allows others to sell their games through the website. As can be seen in the picture below, when viewing an item consumers will see not only the GAME website price but also the price offered by other retailers.

Videogamer reckons that Marketplace will offer a "mix of new and pre-owned items", although it appears that only businesses – and not individuals – are allowed to list products.

The site also appears to allow for the sale of imported games, with the GAME adding: "As part of the product description the seller will indicate if the item being sold is imported from another region. They will also include what region the game is from, with the majority of import games coming from Japan and America, as well as if the game is region locked."

Other additions include the ability for users to cash in their GAME gift cards online. This of course opens up the possibility for trading goods in at stores and then using the credit online, where things can often be cheaper.

Shoppers are now also able to check stock of a particular product at their local store, too, although there doesn’t appear to be the ability to reserve items.

With no official word on the update released as of yet, there may well be some other additions waiting to be found too.
