EIEIO (Expo For Interactive Entertainment, Independent and Original) to run alongside SXSW in March

Gamecock moves indie games event to Texas

Newer developer-focused publisher Gamecock has announced that it is moving its games showcase from E3 to run alongside culture and technology event SXSW.

SXSW (South by South West) takes place in Austin, Texas in March and acknowledges how entertainment and technology are overlapping and has increased its focus on games in recent years.

Gamecock’s Expo For Interactive Entertainment, Independent and Original (aka E.I.E.I.O.) took place alongside E3 last year, and was designed as an antidote to the corporate publisher event.

"While we have enjoyed providing an entertaining respite for the industry during the painful California-based trade shows of years past, it has always been our dream to show people how we really do it down in Texas," said Mike Wilson, ‘grand champeen’ of Gamecock.

"We want this E.I.E.I.O. to be part videogame expo, part backyard carnival, part indie revival. And, as E.I.E.I.O. leads right into SXSW — the annual mecca for independent artists from all walks of life — we are heading-up the charge to get the best and most original games here."

Independent studios with games at this year’s event include Wideload, Red Fly Studio, Spark Unlimited, Replay Studios, Firefly Studios, and TimeGate Studios. Gamecock hopes to get more studios and publishers to exhibit their games as well.

E.I.E.I.O. takes place on March 6th. More information can be found here.
